My Next Planet

It was in March of 2025 that Justin from My Next Planet first reached out about working with Prepaid Friends. I took a listen and liked the songs, liked the sound and appreciated the enthusiasm for the band. Their pop/punk sound brought a little bit of diversity to the predominantly straight up rock bands I usually work with.

I started really working on lining up the songs for this compilation in November of last year. So, it was fortuitous timing that Justin sent me a new demo for a song called “Meet You There” on December 1st. I was immediately struck by the song. The guitar riff intro has more of a rock edge than usual. The track is driven by a propulsive rhythm with great energy. Plus the pre-chorus has a great call and answer hook, while the chorus has an awesome counter-melody. There are so many little melodic details that make the track such a standout. The highly accomplished veteran singer-songwriter Michael Caruso helped produce and co-write the track, so it was a great honor to get permission to release this song for the first time on this compilation. I knew I wanted it to be the lead track. It sets the tone right out of the gate and I can’t wait for people to hear the recording.
