The Thrill

In August of last year I was looking for another band to play with Rent the Sky at the Blue Moon Tavern. I had seen that The Thrill had played with DROP the STAR and decided to take a listen. I put on their 2024 album The Last Goodbye and was immediately taken with the first track “Something Someone Said”. Great guitar riff, great vocal melodies, really good phrasing, it was enough for me to reach out and offer them a slot. The show was in November and it was a vibe. They sounded great, were super cool to work with and the whole night cemented that I wanted to work with them more, and I knew that particular song would work perfectly on the compilation.

Kevin Day shared his thoughts about it: “It was one of the first songs we wrote for the new album. Just before Covid we decided to stop playing gigs and focus on songwriting for a new album. We had no clue that in 45 days or so, gigs would be shut down worldwide! Todd came over the Summer of 2020 (illegally) to work on songs and he had the riff. We started jamming on it and immediately I came up with the chorus riff and the lyrics ‘Was it something someone said’. It stuck! We worked on a whole new set and started playing live again in August of 2022!.”
